Technical Duties
1.Technical Duties 1.1Prepares gross surgical specimens for Pathology Assistant or Pathologist
Other duties
2.1Maintains accurate records of incoming and outgoing specimens and slides.
Quality
3.1Investigates and documents problems with unacceptable specimens
Problem solving
4.1Follows established quidelines for troubleshooting instrument, reagent or specimen problems
Regulation Compliance
5.1Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety
People
6.1Participates in staff meetings, helps promote effective working relationships
Customer Service
7.1Uses Patient/Family center values/Conducts all work activities with respect to the rights and wishes of patients, visitors and patients families
Qualifications
EDUCATION Successfully completed a NAACLS accredited histotechnician program within the last 5 years. This requirement is waived for individuals who have a current HT(ASCP) certificationOR At least 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), or an associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), AND one year full time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory. EXPERIENCE Three years of Histology experience preferred LICENSURE ASCP certification (HT-ASCP) preferred.
