Lilly recently announced a major initiative to create the Lilly Medicines Foundry, a center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. This facility will integrate research and manufacturing to optimize processes, increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, and reduce costs and environmental impact. Responsibilities

Provide automation support for one or more operating areas across site and/or for capital projects. Process automation is core to delivering a right‑first‑time facility startup and continued support of ongoing manufacturing operations. Demonstrate technical leadership and mentor the process control team in design, controls philosophy, implementation, and commissioning. Lead or participate in the design reviews and DeltaV/DCS application software reviews; attend equipment and software FATs as required. Lead a team of automation engineers supporting commissioning; provide periodic status updates to Project Management. Develop functional requirements and process control strategies for control systems in collaboration with Process Engineering; design, configure, test, and validate DCS software (sequence logic, graphics, batch software, etc.). Automate and troubleshoot control loops; implement and support electronic systems (e.g., plant historians) used to capture process automation data. Maintain the validated state of site control systems in line with Lilly quality standards, including development and execution of validation strategies and documentation. Provide automation support for capital projects including new product introductions; promote automation to improve productivity, efficiency, and compliance. Develop a network of corporate contacts and leverage corporate expertise when needed. Organizational Capability

Set and reinforce standards for appropriate rigor in automation work products, in coordination with automation and compliance consultants. Demonstrate initiative, strong planning, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet timelines. Possess technical curiosity and strong problem‑solving skills with a drive for continuous improvement; be able to influence peers and business partners; communicate effectively to technical and non‑technical audiences. Knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements, and computer system validation. Basic Requirements

B.S. in Engineering with experience in Automation Engineering, preferably in major pharmaceutical manufacturing. Minimum 2+ years of experience in Biopharma engineering, operations, or manufacturing. Additional Preferences

Experience in design, development, commissioning, and qualification of highly automated greenfield manufacturing sites utilizing SCADA, DCS, and BMS systems (DeltaV, Rockwell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Desigo, etc.). Experience facilitating and driving decision-making at an organizational level. Other Information
