Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Application Engineering Apprentice will be involved in a variety of duties focused on product application support and specific electromechanical devices (Servo systems, consisting of gearing, electric motors, electronic amplifiers, gearboxes) along with customer care activities. The Application Engineer Apprentice helps to ensure our products integrity and our customers satisfaction by assisting customers with proper drive selection for their project. This includes working closely with Product Management to document technical and quality requirements, preparing drawings for customer reference. An Application Engineer Apprentice engages in quote and order entry as needed by his or her team, while actively engaging customers in high level technical discussions about their projects and our products. Competencies include: all product lines, their specifications, components, and assembly. All duties are performed under the Quality System guidelines of ISO 9001.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (or will be taught or learned)
  • Engage customers to provide the best solution (Gearbox and Motor solutions) for their project, developing relationships that will lead to sales and more projects with STOBER Drives Inc.
  • Facilitate the development of relationships between field sales and inside sales, building engineer to engineer relationships
  • Support overall regional team goals, including quotes and orders to facilitate effective product processing.
  • Effectively navigate the CRM for data entry and extraction, engaging all sales tools to provide the ultimate customer experience.
  • Proficient in sizing all Power Transmission, Servo gear products and Motors products ensuring accuracy and customer expectations are met
  • Conduct mechanical & electrical calculations.
  • Support outside sales with competitor cross over. Maintain competitive data base.
  • Assists in creating/updating instructional material for the Learning Management System and training conferences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Job duties are subject to change as directed by management.
  • Execute tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Observes company policies related to dress, appearance, attendance, employment, etc.

Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Working toward AAS, BSME, or (BSIE, BSIT, BSEE, BSTM)
  • Microsoft Office
  • Auto CAD (2D), SolidWorks (3D), and LabView
  • SAP a plus

GENERAL:
This is a four-year apprenticeship program. (Previous work experience and/or college credit may qualify to be applied to the first 2 years of this program). Apprenticeship compensation is based on a % of Normal Wage. Entry level compensation is dependent on education/experience coming into the program. Compensation will increase as the Apprentice progresses through the program, culmination in Normal Wage at the end of the program. This position requires earning 12 credit hours per year in the appropriate program at MCTC, MSU, NKU, etc. Books and tuition for this class work are company funded, provided minimum academic requirements are met. Individuals in this position are expected to perform daily functions with little supervision. Matters that do require direct supervision should be of a nature that requires the decision making or authority of higher-level management.
PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:
The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, push or pull up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance. The employee must regularly lift and or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include: close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
