  • Position: Material Handler / Heavy Equipment Operator
  • Reports to: Production Supervisor
  • Shift: Rotating 12‑hour shifts. 4 on / 4 off. Swing from days to nights every month.
  • Wage Scale: $35.89 – $41.12 w/ potential for overtime

What You’ll Be Contributing:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Operate front‑end loader on barges to off‑load raw materials, including loading equipment onto the barge, complete material removal, and unloading of equipment.
  • Operate a dump truck, forklift, man‑lift, and heavy equipment to transport raw materials, clinker, and other items within the plant.
  • Attend to security of barge, barge support equipment inspection, and inspection and maintenance of material conveying systems as required.
  • Operate sweeper and water truck to maintain dust control.
  • Perform pre‑shift inspections on heavy equipment for proper operation and preventive maintenance, maintain oil levels, replace air filters, and maintain lubrication.
  • Assist on construction projects, general cleanup, and production operations as needed.
  • Assist in unloading rail cars as needed.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for operating and maintaining vehicle.
  • Assist other departments for coverage as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

ISO 14001 Training Plan: The Material Handler must become familiar with and participate in initial and annual training for ISO 14001.

To Succeed In This Position, You Will Need:

  • High school graduation or equivalent (required)
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Willingness to learn – training will be provided
  • Minimum of one year of related mobile/heavy equipment operation experience (required)
  • Ability to operate trucks, dump trucks, bobcats, heavy capacity loaders, forklifts, and other related heavy equipment safely
  • Ability to operate a shovel, wheelbarrow, jackhammer, weed eater, hand and power tools, hoists, compressors, and other specialized tools
  • Ability to estimate stockpile volumes
  • Stamina and flexibility to maintain a steady work pace
  • Physical requirements: walking, climbing, bending, gripping, twisting, pushing, pulling, awkward positions, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds; work at heights up to 250 feet.

What To Expect In a Cement Environment: Work will be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations up to 250 feet; all weather conditions; normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure. This position is classified as safety sensitive in accordance with WA Senate Bill 5123.
