Position Overview
The Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic is responsible for preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance of Heavy Equipment (e.g., Dozers, Excavators, Haul Trucks, Loaders, Cranes, Backhoes, and other equipment).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, or rebuilds on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, brake, engine (gas and diesel), clutch, and transmission systems.
- Document maintenance and services performed.
Education and Experience
- Mechanical or related degree preferred.
- Crane knowledge is a plus.
- 1-3 years of experience maintaining heavy mobile equipment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Valid driver's license required.
- Valid CDL with Hazard Material endorsement preferred.
- Ability to work in both shop and field environments.
- Safety-oriented mindset.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to follow safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed.
- Must pass a drug screen.
- Strong work ethic.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
Physical Demands
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Good visual and auditory capabilities.
- Coordination and alertness in a hazardous environment.
- Ability to mount/dismount vehicles and wear PPE.
Environmental Conditions
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Exposure to natural elements and terrain.
