$81,000.00/yr - $143,000.00/yr

Title/Role: Composite Application Engineer – Advanced Manufacturing & Additive Systems

Work Location: Rockford, IL

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Job Summary:

Seeking a Composite Application Engineer to support process development, training, and customer integration of advanced manufacturing technologies such as Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), Automated Tape Laying (ATL), and large-scale thermoplastic and metal 3D printing. This role combines hands‑on problem‑solving, customer support, and process optimization in a high‑tech production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze customer part and process requirements.
• Develop, test, and optimize composite and additive manufacturing processes.
• Train internal engineering teams and external customers on process operation.
• Support full project lifecycle—from proposal through production launch.
• Troubleshoot and resolve process or machine issues.
• Travel up to 10% for customer or project support.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering (or related).
• Proficiency with CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, or ProE).
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Programming knowledge in C/C++ or Python.
• Experience with NC programming and interpreting NC files.
• Background in composites or large‑scale additive manufacturing.
• Experience running or programming robotic platforms or large machine tools.
