Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer to support one of our largest clients in the retail industry. This individual will serve as the subject matter expert for the mainframe platform, providing technical leadership and hands-on support across infrastructure, applications, and third-party integrations. The role involves leading complex projects, optimizing system performance, and driving strategic improvements in a dynamic, enterprise-wide environment. Must-Have Qualifications 10+ years of technical experience in engineering and supporting large, complex mainframe and open system environments 5+ years of experience providing technical leadership and mentoring to infrastructure engineers and administrators Proven hands-on experience installing IBM mainframe hardware, operating systems, and third-party software (e.g., CA, BMC, LRS, Information Builders) Expertise in designing, implementing, and operating enterprise-wide mainframe and server infrastructure in highly virtualized environments Experience planning and executing large-scale projects, including hardware architecture changes, refreshes, software upgrades, and global consolidations Preferred Qualifications Experience with JobTrac application Local to Cleveland, OH Background in the retail industry Mastery of CICS administration, storage, and tape management systems Responsibilities Act as the technical lead for all mainframe-related initiatives Plan, install, configure, customize, and test IBM z/OS and third-party software packages such as TopSecret, CA-1, CA-Disk, BMC AMI Storage, Endevor, MIM, VPS, and others Perform CICS administration and ensure optimal performance of mainframe systems Drive capacity planning and resource optimization for mainframe, storage, and tape environments Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure and application needs
