Job Title:
Associate Principal, DevOps/Automation Hybrid-Engineer
Location & Type:
Chicago, IL – Onsite, 3 Days per Week. Direct Hire. Requires after‑hours support and on‑call rotation 5 PM–7 AM for 3 months per year.
Compensation:
$121,500.00 – $194,800.00 (8–15%)

Summary The Associate Principal, DevOps / Automation Engineer will join our client’s team, a leader in the financial market and clearing organization industry, supporting automation, CI/CD, and cloud operations across multiple environments.
This role refines and automates SDLC processes, improves deployment pipelines, and maintains AWS‑ and Kubernetes‑based development environments. It also handles troubleshooting, architectural optimization, and cloud operations, ensuring reliability and scalability across the technology landscape.
This position is hybrid in Chicago, collaborating closely with the DevOps leads to design and implement solutions that enhance the efficiency, performance, and automation maturity of the clearing applications.

What You Will Be Accountable For
Partner with development and infrastructure teams to automate and optimize build, deployment, and monitoring processes across OCC’s clearing applications.
Identify architectural gaps and recommend design improvements for AWS‑based environments and CI/CD frameworks.
Troubleshoot and maintain cloud operations, ensuring environment reliability and operational excellence.
Support and evolve development environments leveraging Kubernetes and AWS, ensuring seamless integration between components.
Develop and maintain Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and Harness pipelines to automate environment provisioning and application deployment.
Contribute to continuous improvement of DevOps processes and documentation to drive self‑service capabilities.
Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to implement scalable, secure, and automated infrastructure solutions.
Mentor team members on DevOps tools, automation best practices, and cloud infrastructure patterns.
Stay current with emerging technologies and suggest innovations to advance OCC’s DevOps strategy.
What Qualifications You Need
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical field.
5+ years of recent DevOps experience, participating in or supporting DevOps teams.
3+ years building large‑scale, data‑centric, or cloud‑native solutions in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Broad DevOps orientation demonstrated automation experience with infrastructure and software delivery pipelines, and CI/CD methodologies.
Strong experience with Terraform, Jenkins, Docker, GitHub, and Kubernetes (required).
Hands‑on experience with AWS (EC2, VPCs, IAM, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, Lambda, KMS, etc.).
Solid understanding of Linux administration and shell scripting.
Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, ElasticSearch, Prometheus, or AppDynamics.
Knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON‑RPC, and Git workflows.
Experience in one or more languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, Groovy, or Java.
Experience with Kafka or distributed message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Kinesis).
Familiarity with Harness, Ansible, or Helm.
Preferred Certifications
AWS Cloud Certification
CKA/CKAD or equivalent Kubernetes certification
