Overview The Competitive Intelligence Analyst will conduct in‑depth research and analysis of companies, sectors, practice areas, geographic markets, technologies, and competitors using a comprehensive variety of online research tools. This role will develop insightful and actionable intelligence to aid strategic decision‑making and drive business development, profitability, growth, client retention, and other business opportunities.
Responsibilities
Monitor and analyze the competitive legal environment, as well as emerging trends in the legal industry, to provide proactive business insights.
Provide quick reference and in‑depth research on competitors, clients, prospects, markets, and industries to support firm‑wide marketing and business development initiatives.
Analyze and create reports using internal business intelligence data on clients, matters and industries served to uncover trends and identify opportunities.
Synthesize relevant information needed for high‑level and business development decision‑making, and succinctly communicate research findings in a clear and concise manner, with an emphasis on written communication.
Effectively manage expectations and explain research findings to various stakeholders within the firm, including the business development team and lawyers, tailoring communication and delivery methods to suit the needs and understanding of different audiences.
Provide training and guidance to business development staff on resources and methodologies to support them in execution of their responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to quickly develop proficiency in new information resources; experience with corporate databases such as Westlaw Litigation Analytics, Capital IQ, Manzama, Leopard Solutions, Lexis Nexis, ALM Legal Compass, PitchBook, Lex Machina, a plus.
Strong analytical and research skills, experience working in complex databases and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, SharePoint beneficial.
Ability to build relationships with clients, lawyers, internal departments and vendors, while respecting confidentiality.
Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a course of study in business, finance, or marketing beneficial.
Minimum of two (2) years of competitive intelligence (CI) experience, preferably in a law firm environment.
Compensation Hiring Salary Range: $85,000.00 – $105,000.00
