Director, Organizational Development, Human Resources
Boston University’s Organizational Development & Learning (OD&L) Team is seeking a Director of Organizational Development. This role reports to the Assistant VP and will oversee key OD functions, including strategic planning, team development, and change facilitation, with a strong emphasis on dialogic and humanistic OD practices.
Strategic Planning
Lead the design and execution of university-wide organizational development strategies.
Partner with senior leaders to align their organizational design with institutional goals and values.
Facilitate strategic planning processes that are inclusive, adaptive, and dialogic.
Team Development
Design and deliver team development programs that foster collaboration, trust, and psychological safety.
Support departments in navigating change, improving team dynamics, and enhancing performance.
Apply dialogic OD methods to engage diverse voices and perspectives in shaping organizational culture.
Consultation & Facilitation
Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and teams on leveraging organizational strengths and opportunities.
Facilitate retreats, workshops, and interventions using participatory and dialogic methods.
Evaluate the impact of OD initiatives and continuously refine approaches based on feedback and data.
Project Management
Lead and manage complex OD projects from initiation through implementation and evaluation.
Develop project scope, timelines, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders, monitor progress, manage resources, and ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
Apply change management principles to support the successful adoption and sustainability of initiatives.
Manager Responsibilities
Lead a team of OD consultants and specialists, providing tactical support through work prioritization and resource management, ongoing guidance, and empowerment, demonstrating participatory leadership.
Collaboration & Partnership
Build strong partnerships and collaborations across academic and administrative units to support organizational success.
Represent Human Resources/Organizational Development & Learning in university-wide committees and initiatives.
Qualifications
Master’s degree required.
5-8 years of direct experience including 3+ years of management experience.
Location: BOSTON, MA Position Type: Full-Time/Regular Salary Grade: 51
