Located in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin’s premier resort town, Destination Geneva National is a premier golf and resort community featuring three championship courses by Palmer, Player, and Trevino, exceptional lodging, dining, and a high‑touch member experience.
The General Manager is accountable for membership engagement, golf operations, and overall daily performance, driving a culture of hospitality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy
Set vision and operating direction for Membership and Golf divisions; align goals with Destination Geneva National’s mission.
Build and execute annual operating plans and budgets; deliver sustainable financial performance.
Partner with ownership to implement long‑term initiatives that enhance facilities, member value, and guest experience.
Membership Experience
Serve as the face of the Club for Members; cultivate connection, trust, and responsiveness.
Lead membership sales, onboarding, engagement, and retention; collaborate with marketing on targeted growth.
Ensure consistent, personalized service across all member touchpoints (golf, dining, lodging, events).
Golf Operations
Oversee all golf functions: course operations, pro shop, instruction, tournaments, guest services, and practice facilities.
Partner with the Director of Agronomy and COO to ensure championship‑level conditions and experiences.
Monitor pace of play, standards, and tournament operations to ensure excellence and consistency.
Team & Culture
Recruit, train, and retain high‑performing teams; set clear standards and feedback rhythms.
Model a culture of hospitality, integrity, and continuous improvement.
Financial & Operational Management
Own operating and capital budgets; manage P&L, forecasts, and KPIs.
Optimize revenue (membership, golf, retail, events) and identify efficiency opportunities.
Oversee purchasing, vendor relations, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Community & Brand Engagement
Represent Destination Geneva National in local/regional golf and hospitality circles.
Build partnerships with sponsors and tourism organizations; elevate brand presence.
Uphold the property’s reputation as a premier destination for golf and club lifestyle.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Hospitality, Business, Professional Golf Management, or related field.
7–10+ years of progressive leadership in private club, golf resort, or luxury hospitality.
Demonstrated success leading both membership and golf operations.
Strong P&L ownership, budgeting, and analytics.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship skills.
Multi‑courses experience a plus, with a strong pace of play culture.
Resort experience, stay and play golf package experience at higher volume.
Member‑first mindset with operational rigor.
PGA and/or CMAA credentials a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours during event/peak days).
Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Frequent walking on uneven terrain.
Ability to drive a golf cart and operate related course equipment safely.
Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Sufficient visual acuity and hearing.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the radio, and on the phone.
Must be able to remain on‑site for extended work hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays during peak season.
