PRN - varied days Mon-Friday Pay Range $34.90 - $52.35 Responsibilities
Technologist is responsible for accurately performing defined diagnostic procedures as requested by referring physicians, in a timely manner. Confirms appropriateness of exam; explains procedures to patient. Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and procedural adjunctive medications by proper route per clinician prescription and according to approved exam parameters; competently performs venipuncture and placement of peripheral IV catheters for medication administration; accesses other vascular access devices as needed. Follows correct procedures for handling radioactive materials; understands and implements ALARA measures; maintains accurate records of pharmaceutical doses. Obtains relevant patient history; prepares the patient for exam; operates digital imaging systems to acquire images and/or graphic data. Maintains a safe, organized and efficient work environment; complies with established radiation safety standards, OSHA safety standards and IDNS regulations. Controls exposure from radioactive sources using shielding and controlled-area storage; maintains department orderliness and infection control compliance. Assesses patient condition and implements appropriate patient care guidelines; reports inventory depletion to the supervisor in a timely manner. Maintains complete records of receipt, disposition and disposal of all radioactive materials per IDNS and Accrediting Organization requirements; logs inventory, dispenses doses and records measurements and waste disposition. Performs clerical duties to capture charges and maintain required records; facilitates physician reporting. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with department staff, physicians and external contacts to meet departmental objectives; communicates with nurses and informs other areas of service changes. Contacts patients to confirm and review prep for upcoming studies, including medical and surgical history; coordinates Infusaport use and sedation as requested by patient and radiologist. Maintains equipment and examination rooms; ensures equipment is used properly and notifies the Practice Manager of malfunctions; performs quality controls and maintains calibration records for dose calibrator, imaging equipment, counting equipment and gamma survey meters. Maintains professional competence by attending in-service presentations, staff meetings and continuing education; documents CE credits for license maintenance; attends scheduled staff meetings. Education/Experience
Graduate of an accredited 2-year Nuclear Medicine Program. Two plus years of experience in Nuclear Medicine. Must recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups; prior experience with various age groups preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of radioactivity rules and regulations for handling radiopharmaceuticals. Ability to perform with direct supervision; ability to operate radiation detection equipment. Proficiency with computers and multiple programs to perform procedures, record dispositions, schedule patients and capture charges. Good interpersonal and customer relations skills; IDNS Nuclear Medicine Technologist licensing; CPR certification. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
May be exposed to radiation during procedures. May be required to lift and move patients; may be exposed to hazardous materials and infectious diseases; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Benefits and Compensation
