As a Lead Sales Engineer – Engine Applications (internally known as a Lead Application Engineer), you’ll be a key technical advisor and innovator, helping customers unlock the full potential of their equipment through upgrades, service tools, and lifecycle support.

What You’ll Do You’ll work directly with our channel partners and end users to deliver technical solutions that improve performance, reliability, and serviceability of legacy Waukesha engines.

Your responsibilities will include:

Customer-Facing Engineering & Support

Advise on engine upgrade applications and system reconfigurations (compressors, coolers, emissions).

Provide technical support and training to distributors and partners—virtually and onsite.

Lead customer presentations, negotiations, and represent Waukesha at industry events.

Service Innovation & Product Launch

Develop tools that help customers identify service parts and plan maintenance intervals.

Create and execute service readiness plans for new product releases.

Ensure service parts availability and support successful engine launches.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Support sales channels with engineering expertise during project development.

Align with Product Management and NPI teams to incorporate customer feedback into product design.

Maintain and improve technical documentation, sales manuals, and configuration tools.

Leadership & Strategy

Lead small project teams across functions.

Define and communicate engine lifecycle changes and product catalog updates.

Drive technical solutions for non-standard applications and special releases.

What You Bring Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.

2+ years of engineering experience, preferably in the reciprocating engine industry.

Willingness to travel up to 25% (domestic & international).

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available).

Preferred Qualifications

4+ years of relevant engineering experience.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proven ability to work across matrixed organizations.

High motivation, problem-solving mindset, and negotiation skills.
