DESCRIPTION Summary The Senior Accountant reports to the Director of Accounting and is responsible for the accuracy of all aspects of the general ledger accounting. This position interacts with all levels within the company and is heavily relied upon for accurate, timely, and meaningful information. The role of the senior accountant is to oversee all financial transactions which occur in the accounting system and to analyze and verify their accuracy and ensure transactions are entered in a timely manner. This includes journal entries as well as day-to-day transactions occurring inside the company. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation and review of the financial statements and plant reporting to the Director of Accounting.

Responsibilities Create, verify, and post all journal entries with accompanying schedules and backup documentation.

Reconcile all balance sheet accounts each month. Create and maintain a schedule for each account and know the details of the account balances.

Review all financial transactions to ensure accuracy. This would include, but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Work order and Fixed Assets.

Assist with the preparation of the Financial Statements and supporting schedules and present to Director of Accounting for review each month.

Discover errors and suggest ways to improve processes.

Assist with annual audit for both external auditors and internal audits.

Review of Commissions monthly to ensure accuracy of amounts to be paid out. Schedule payments on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Multi State Sales and use tax preparation. Assist with property tax renditions and review tax bills for accuracy.

Assist with Director in the Administration of the Concur expense reporting system. Reconcile all transactions for AP processing.

Maintain the Fixed Assets of the company and monitor and create Capital Projects account and schedules.

Support the development of process and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

Work with Staff Accountant for job duty backup and cross training

Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, CPA preferred, but not required.

3 - 5 years of senior accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

Thorough knowledge of accounting principles.

Strong organizational and analytical skills analytical abilities

Experience with Financial Statements and balance sheet reconciliations.

Proficiency in Windows applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) JD Edwards or similar ERP

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to utilize business intelligence tools such as QlikView and Spreadsheet Server is a plus

Familiar with Concur for employee expense reporting and Bottomline Technologies for accounts payable automation
