Summary / Objective In keeping with our organization’s goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve, the Nurse Supervisor is responsible for the overall nursing care/service on his/her shift, including the accurate and timely administration of medications, treatments, and documentation. The Nurse Supervisor provides supervision of staff and will safeguard the health, safety and welfare of all Residents under their care by following applicable laws, regulations, and established nursing policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
Provides quality nursing care to Residents in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity and freedom of choice.
Supervises Certified Nurse Aides and other staff, ensuring assignments are completed.
Supervises direct care of residents and nursing personnel during the shift.
Gives and receives shift reports.
Rounds the unit multiple times to assure proper care in a safe, clean environment.
Communicates changes in resident condition to physicians and families.
Assists in developing comprehensive care plans.
Completes medical records in accordance with nursing policies while maintaining confidentiality.
Maintains infection control and safety precautions.
Maintains comfort, privacy and dignity of Residents, displaying warmth and respect.
Responds promptly to call lights.
Assists with admissions, re‑admissions, and resident transfers.
Communicates effectively with Residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
Participates in departmental meetings and in‑services as directed.
Supervisory Responsibility This position directly supervises Certified Nurse Aides and other assigned personnel.
Required Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduated from an accredited nursing program.
Current State License as an RN.
C.P.R. Certified.
Preferred Education & Experience
One year experience as a nurse in a long-term care setting.
