What You’ll Do As our Transmission Planning Engineer Co‑op, you’ll contribute to the Economic and Policy Planning team by analyzing historical grid and market data to support long‑term transmission investment strategies. Your work helps MISO identify and justify infrastructure improvements that ensure the grid remains reliable and efficient for millions.
You’ll Gain Hands‑On Experience With
Tools like PSSE, TARA (PowerGEM), and market congestion datasets
Expanding prior projects through data analytics and visualization, including automating analysis and creating dashboards with Python, Power BI, and Tableau
Supporting strategic planning and interregional transmission studies
A Great Day In This Role Means Compiling and analyzing data from multiple sources, creating clear visualizations and sharing insights with other teams; seeing how your analysis directly influences key decisions. You’ll know you’re making an impact when your work helps guide long‑term investments in the electric grid.

Qualifications At a Glance Term: Jan 14 – May 1, 2026 | Full‑time | Paid Location: Carmel, IN | Housing available for qualified students Academic Level: Undergraduate (Juniors or Seniors) or Graduate Degree: Electrical Engineering
Required Technical Skills
Experience with data analysis or visualization tools (Python, Power BI, Excel)
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with PSSE, Tableau, or market modeling tools
Coursework in power systems, economics, or transmission planning
By the end of your co‑op, you’ll walk away with:
