Opportunity Principal, Asset Management Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Power Generation
The role is located in the Infrastructure Advisory organization and focuses on leading Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) initiatives for power generation and energy clients. As a lead engineer, you will develop, document, and implement new solutions and services, manage client engagements, and help shape Black & Veatch’s EAM offerings.
Key Responsibilities
Lead business development for Asset Management Systems offerings to Power Generation & Energy clients (Fossil, Hydro and Renewables).
Articulate the business case for implementing Black & Veatch’s EAM solutions.
Leverage personal networks to identify and secure new client opportunities.
Manage client projects and engagements across the full engagement lifecycle.
Define and lead the architectural strategy for EAM, Field Service Management, Capital Investment Planning, and Portfolio & Program Management implementations.
Design scalable, secure, high‑performance solutions using IBM Maximo, Oracle, IFS, and other relevant platforms.
Oversee system integrations with EAM and third‑party platforms.
Evaluate emerging technologies applicable to Power Generation & Energy clients.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate functional needs into technical architecture and integration plans.
Manage client expectations within defined scope.
Assist in enhancing existing offerings and creating new ones.
Develop, present, and defend recommendations and implementation plans.
Recommend appropriate resources based on engagement phases.
Delegate and manage work to team members.
Transfer skills to improve others’ knowledge levels.
Enhance relationships with client teams.
Contribute to engagement quality reviews.
Establish best practices for configuration, customization, and data governance.
Guide teams in implementing architectural standards and frameworks.
Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and performance standards.
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of experience with Power Generation & Energy clients.
5+ years of experience with asset management solutions used in the energy sector.
Strong understanding of asset management, work order systems, and cloud infrastructure.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Knowledge of asset management principles and advisory services.
Experience in functional areas of Asset Management, Work Management, Field Service Management, Capital Investment Planning, and Portfolio & Program Management.
Ability to communicate across organizational boundaries and leadership levels.
Experience with the architecture and functional capabilities of EAM solutions in the energy sector.
Background in utilities or public sector implementations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
Managed significant engagements.
10+ years in a business/consulting environment.

Compensation Annual compensation range: $151,260.00 – $290,749.00.
