Job Category Underwriting Compensation Overview The annual base salary range for this position is a nationwide market range, representing a broad spectrum of salaries across the country. The actual salary will be determined by factors such as the scope, complexity, and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; and other employment conditions. Employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentives as part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program. Salary Range $106,000 - $175,000 Target Openings What Is the Opportunity? Ocean Marine specializes in ocean cargo, marine liabilities, hull and protection indemnity, and yacht coverage for small and mid-size businesses. The Account Executive Officer (AEO), Ocean Marine, will partner with agents and brokers to provide coverage for new and renewal business based on customer needs. This role is considered a technical resource. As an AEO, you should be decisive, detail-oriented, and skilled at building relationships internally and externally to drive results. Your ability to independently assess complex risks and sell our products in challenging markets will contribute to Travelers' profitability and success. What Will You Do? Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business. Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability. Build and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to develop sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities. Maintain relationships with external partners by meeting in person with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products, with travel required for meetings. Identify and pursue new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills. Develop and execute agency sales plans independently and collaborate with your Managing Director to develop regional/group sales strategies. Assist in training and mentoring less experienced Account Executives. Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Bachelor’s degree. Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience, specifically in Ocean Marine. Deep knowledge of Ocean Marine products, regulatory environment, and local insurance market. Strong critical thinking skills to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze information to make timely decisions aligned with our risk appetite. Excellent communication skills for successful negotiation with agents and brokers. CPCU designation. What is a Must Have? Four years of experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance roles. What Is in It for You?
