Mechanical Project Engineer (EIT) – Sanford, FL

Opening for a Mechanical Project Engineer (EIT) located in Sanford, FL. The role includes HVAC load calculations, energy compliance calculations, and building code compliance. Working with project managers and teams to create design documents, reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and collaborating with internal and external clients.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical and plumbing systems alongside senior engineers.
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and regulatory standards.
Develop and document system configurations and design methodologies.
Create mechanical design drawings, installation procedures, and engineering reports.
Assist in the evaluation of designs to meet operational and cost‑effectiveness goals.
Work closely with project managers and mechanical leadership to produce high‑quality deliverables.
Support cross‑functional teams, ensuring alignment on project objectives and timelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
Passage of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam or ability to do so within 6 months.
2 years of mechanical engineering and design experience, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, boilers, chillers, and central heating (CH) systems.
Project experience designing Mechanical/HVAC systems for various industries.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, energy/load simulation software, and Microsoft Office.
Required Skills & Abilities
Proficiency in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Trace700, ComCheck, Energy Gauge, or similar tools.
Strong understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems, components, design principles, and codes.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering data.
Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity with Deltek Vision, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Ability to exercise critical thinking and independent judgment.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to effectively multitask and work on multiple projects while adhering to schedules and budgets.
Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
Detail‑oriented, quality‑conscious, reliable, and self‑motivated.
