The

Family Birth Center RN

positions include bedside RNs on various units throughout St. Charles Health System. These departments provide 24/7 specialized care to patients throughout their hospitalization and discharge. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The

RN

provides quality patient and family-centered care as a member of the healthcare team in accordance with St. Charles Health System's mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures. Applies standards for professional nursing practice and focuses clinical care to enhance the experience for patients, families, and others. This position may oversee the work of other caregivers, providing specific care to assigned patients throughout the shift, as required under the scope of RN licensure. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Maintains and demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards, and techniques, applying this knowledge in accordance with policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. Assesses patient condition and needs using critical thinking and clinical judgment; sets outcomes; implements appropriate nursing actions; collaborates with other disciplines; and evaluates patient progress. Calculates dosages and administers medications accurately following policies and procedures. Documents all patient care proficiently, complying with hospital policies and regulatory agencies. Supports departmental and organizational goals through participation in quality improvement and departmental activities. Participates in professional growth activities for self and colleagues. Communicates effectively (both written and oral) and maintains professional relationships with caregivers, medical staff, patients, and guests. Identifies work-related problems, proposes solutions, and implements them within scope of practice. Supports the organization's vision, mission, and values. Supports Value Improvement Practice (VIP-Lean) principles of continuous improvement, acting as a change champion. Creates a healing environment that supports all aspects of care and the wholeness of individuals. Builds intentional relationships, demonstrating behaviors that enhance the care experience. Delivers timely, efficient, and accurate customer and patient care. Performs standby callback as assigned, varying by department. Performs additional duties of similar complexity as required. BSN LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION Required:

Current Oregon RN license AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification ACLS within 6 months of hire NRP Basic Fetal Monitoring Course Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring within 2 years of hire RNs starting on or before June 13, 2018, must obtain STABLE certification by June 30, 2019; RNs starting after June 13, 2018, must obtain it within 6 months of hire. Preferred:

Department-specific acute care certifications (e.g., RNC, IBCLC) EXPERIENCE Required:

1 year recent acute care RN experience Preferred:

Recent RN postpartum, LDRP, or LDRP Senior Capstone experience PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT Must be able to wear PPE required for safe job performance. ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION: Must have excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse population. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
