Position Overview Pantheon Data is seeking an accomplished

Naval Architect SME

with deep expertise in shipboard design, structural systems, and vessel arrangements. The role provides technical leadership, oversight, and mentorship across projects focused on the design, analysis, and validation of ship structures and arrangements.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee verification and validation efforts for Naval Architecture design work related to structural and arrangement systems.

Provide expert‑level review and guidance on shipboard structural components, internal and topside arrangements, and stability and safety studies.

Evaluate and advise on high‑impact design review decisions, offering technical insight to decision‑makers and program leaders.

Review and provide feedback on design review comments prepared by junior engineers, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with project goals.

Mentor and train junior naval architects in ship design principles, calculations, and analytical methods related to structures, arrangements, and stability analyses.

Support the development and implementation of engineering processes, standards, and tools to enhance overall design quality and efficiency.

Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, program management, and customer teams to ensure technical excellence and timely delivery.

Required Skills And Experience

Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.

At least 10 years of hands‑on experience in one or more of the following: designing shipboard structural and strength components; developing and applying structural analysis calculations in accordance with marine structural codes and standards; designing functional internal and topside arrangements including studies of stability, safety, and machinery placement.

Strong working knowledge of marine structural codes, classification society rules, and relevant regulatory standards.

Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary review efforts and guide critical technical decisions.

Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing junior engineers in naval architecture and related disciplines.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Clearance Requirements U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Work Location Hybrid in Washington, DC – onsite 2 days per week; remote options may be discussed depending on location.

Compensation Salary range: $125,000 – $140,000, subject to experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.
