Upside
About the Company
Upside transforms brick‑and‑mortar commerce by applying the sophistication of online retail—profit measurement, attribution, and incrementality—to deliver superior value for shoppers and retailers alike. With millions of users earning 2 to 3 times more cashback than competing products and hundreds of thousands of retailers achieving measurable profit, Upside powers billions of dollars in commerce each year. About the Role
We're looking for an
Infrastructure Engineer
to join the Platform Infrastructure team. This team builds and supports the systems that power how engineering teams develop, deploy, and operate software—cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and security automation. Responsibilities
Contribute to infrastructure initiatives that improve platform reliability, security, and developer experience, such as CI/CD pipeline improvements, cost optimization, and automation of manual workflows. Collaborate with product and security engineers to identify pain points in build, test, or deploy workflows and deliver well‑scoped improvements using existing platform tools and patterns. Implement infrastructure‑as‑code modules using Terraform and maintain AWS resources in a reliable, consistent manner. Participate in the team’s shield rotation, investigating org‑wide incidents and ensuring systems remain resilient and well‑monitored. Document work clearly, contribute to best‑practice guides, and share knowledge via Slack, Confluence, and GitHub. Mentor junior team members and actively seek feedback to support your own growth. Ideal Qualifications
2–4 years of experience in infrastructure, DevOps, platform, or SRE roles supporting production systems. Hands‑on experience with AWS, Terraform, and GitHub (or equivalent infrastructure tooling). Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Bash, or Go). Experience with CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins. Strong knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and observability, with demonstrated contributions to reliability. Initiative to understand systems, ask thoughtful questions, and raise blockers early. Clear, collaborative communication and ability to participate in planning and retrospectives. Engineering Culture
Our engineers have time and support to grow their craft and contribute to impactful decisions. We emphasize deep focus, collaboration, and continuous skill development in a dynamic, diverse environment. Location
This hybrid role is based in our Austin, Chicago, DC, or NYC office. In‑office attendance is required on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and may increase based on project needs and company policy changes. Compensation
