What You Will Do GFT is seeking a Senior Hydraulic Structures Engineer to join our Dams and Hydraulics team. The role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Denver office. We expect you to drive innovative solutions for sustainable water management and infrastructure, focusing on dams, levees, water treatment, stormwater management, and conveyance systems. You will mentor junior engineers, review site conditions, conduct engineering analyses, and provide technical assistance for dam and reservoir projects.
Responsibilities
Prepare proposals by developing work scope, cost estimates, and project schedules.
Manage projects by monitoring progress, providing technical assistance, and interfacing with clients.
Analyze concrete dams and appurtenant structures using computer software and hand calculations.
Conduct field inspections of project sites to assess existing conditions.
Prepare technical reports and present findings to clients.
Serve as engineer of record for design and/or analysis projects.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in structural, civil, or mechanical engineering.
15+ years of experience.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one U.S. state.
Strong data analysis and problem‑solving skills.
Strong technical writing skills (reports, proposals, etc.).
Strong verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff, and regulators.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in structural, civil, or mechanical engineering.
Experience with finite element analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, SAP2000, STADD).
Experience participating in risk analysis of dams.
Experience performing seismic analysis of dams and appurtenant structures.
Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $140,000 – $180,000 (dependent on experience and geographic location). Incentive compensation available for eligible positions.
