Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician – Joint Base Anacostia, Bolling

EMI Services is excited to announce an opportunity for a Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician to join our dedicated team. In this vital role, the individual will be responsible for carrying out a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on equipment, specifically as they relate to the skilled trades. The selected candidate will not only focus on repairing machinery and mechanical equipment but will also engage in essential electrician duties, showcasing a diverse skill set. The position necessitates a well‑rounded background in training and hands‑on experience to tackle a broad spectrum of maintenance challenges effectively. We are looking for someone who is detail‑oriented, possesses problem‑solving abilities, and is committed to maintaining high standards of safety and quality in all tasks undertaken.
Salary:
$50.32/hr plus employer paid health benefits and pension.
Key Responsibilities
Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble
Dismantle or partly dismantle machines and perform repairs
Replace broken or defective parts
Prepare written specifications for major repairs
Reassemble machines and make all necessary adjustments for operation
Perform electrician duties, including the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy
Install or repair a variety of circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment
Locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment
Perform other related duties as assigned
Essential Skills
Thorough knowledge of theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment, and systems used in the trade
Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal codes and regulations pertaining to the trade
Must be able to read and understand blueprints as appropriate to trade
Able to work standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring and electrical equipment
Use a variety of electrician's hand tools, and measuring and testing instruments
Adaptable and flexible in work situations
Prioritizes tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner
Practices workplace safety in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies – including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
3+ years’ experience as a maintenance mechanic/electrician in an industrial or commercial facilities maintenance environment
MUST have a Top Secret Clearance
MUST have SCI eligibility
Valid driver’s license compliant with REAL ID Act or willing and able to obtain one
Pass a pre‑employment drug screening and background check
Regular, dependable attendance
U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations
Preferred Qualifications
TS/SCI clearance
Certifications
Formal apprenticeship

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking
Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping
Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces
May spend long hours in awkward positions which can cause physical discomfort and strain
May stand for long periods and frequently work on ladders and scaffolds
Work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditions
