Raytheon Field Engineering is seeking a Master Electrician to assist with the installation, modification, operation, and maintenance of the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS) within the National Capital Region (NCR). These systems incorporate mechanical, electrical, and RF components. This position is critical to guaranteeing reliable performance and safety of essential electrical systems across the DC area. The Master Electrician will take a leadership role in overseeing electrical projects, mentoring team members, and ensuring adherence to all safety regulations and codes.

U.S. Citizenship and Security Clearance:

Must be a U.S. citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining a DoD Secret clearance.

What You Will Do

Perform electrical and related tasks to maintain satellite facilities, including the installation, repair, and modification of electrical and electronic systems and equipment.

Install, maintain, and repair electrical power systems, control systems, motors, generators, transformers, switch panels, and related equipment.

Determine routing, location, and method for installing wires, conduits, electrical equipment, fixtures, and accessories.

Assess the need for repairs or replacements and determine the safest and most effective method to restore interrupted service.

Calculate wire gauge, power, and load limit requirements as needed.

Work from schematics, blueprints, and both verbal and written instructions.

Repair, modify, and maintain high-voltage switchgear and associated equipment, including splicing, tapping, and insulating wires and cables.

Perform work in open and all-weather environments.

Communicate and collaborate effectively with customers and peers on a regular basis.

Support a 24/7 operational readiness schedule.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications You Must Have

Completed a 4-year trade school program or a 4–5-year apprenticeship to establish a solid foundation in electrical systems and technologies.

At least 10 years of experience in electrical work, including project leadership and estimating; experience in a supervisory role strongly preferred.

Master Electrician license in the District of Columbia or a license from a jurisdiction eligible for reciprocity with the District of Columbia.

Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal electrical codes and regulations, as well as safe work practices.

Capable of conducting inspections, identifying issues and risks, and implementing effective and efficient solutions.

Ability to lift objects in accordance with Raytheon and OSHA regulations.

Expertise in: common wiring, including phone and data cabling and termination; electrical system monitoring tools such as Dranets; variable frequency drives, backup generators, and transfer switches; electrical controls (50 Hz, 60 Hz, 400 Hz systems operating at 3‑phase 120 to 480 V); blueprint reading and troubleshooting electrical systems.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Qualifications We Prefer

Master Electrician certification.

Proven experience in commercial or government installation environments.

In‑depth knowledge of electrical systems, including backup generators, transfer switches, and wiring schematics.

Active / Existing Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years of related experience, or Associates Degree with 8 years’ experience or HS Diploma/GED with 12 years of related experience.

The salary range for this role is USD 112,000 – 224,000. Located in Washington, D.C., the position is U.S.-based. RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the posting date, but may adjust based on business needs.
