Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for an Education Abroad Program Manager! This position exists to enable students to study abroad or to have an academic learning experience as an integral part of their university career. Responsibilities include leading a portfolio of education abroad programs, advising students on program options, preparing students for a term away from the CU Boulder campus, and providing health and safety support. This position also supports various EA teams such as the Advising team, the Advertising, Marketing, and Outreach team, and/or others as needed. The position is expected to further the strategic goals and mission of the University of Colorado Boulder and of Education Abroad, and to contribute to the University’s Excellence goals. Who We Are

Education Abroad is a unit within International Education in the Office of Undergraduate Education within the Division of Academic Affairs, at the University of Colorado Boulder. The mission of this unit is to develop, operate, and maintain a comprehensive portfolio of global education programs for CU Boulder students and academic units, including study abroad, domestic programs, international student exchanges, international internships, faculty‑led Global Seminars, Global Intensives, and international research and service learning. The unit is responsible for health and safety and risk mitigation for students going abroad on CU Boulder‑sponsored programs, and oversees campus support for the International Travel Registration process. Responsibilities

Manage a Portfolio of Education Abroad Programs

– Oversee and lead programs by working with program contacts, students, and other stakeholders, ensuring the portfolio supports institutional goals. Coordinate With Partners

– Serve as CU liaison with assigned program partners, maintain relationships, facilitate collaboration, and advocate for CU students. Work with exchange teams, overseas partners, and U.S. partner institution colleagues on academics, logistics, cultural issues, and health/safety matters. Health/Safety/Crisis Management

– Act as first contact during emergencies or crises abroad, gathering pertinent information, notifying relevant parties, and maintaining accurate records. Collaborate closely with the EA Director and Associate Director, ensuring adherence to policies such as FERPA and HIPAA, and addressing impacts of world events and natural disasters. Admit and Prepare Students

– Make admissions decisions based on qualifications, prerequisites, academic records, disciplinary history, linguistic abilities, and cross‑cultural adaptability. Conduct interviews, set academic conditions, and prepare admitted students with pre‑departure materials, orientations, and support. Evaluate and Monitor Programs

– Work with the EA Director to recommend, approve, and add new programs. Evaluate student feedback, prepare annual program evaluation reports, and participate in overseas site visits and program reviews every two years. Liaise With Campus Partners

– Coordinate with academic departments and campus offices (OFA, OSC, CAPS, OVA, etc.) to align academic planning and address student concerns. Global Seminar Program Management

– Collaborate with faculty directors to select or reject students, coordinate logistics and advertising, evaluate program quality, and implement changes in partnership with the Director of Global Seminars. Support EA Teams

– Provide support during the application cycle for the Advising Team, Advertising, Marketing & Outreach Team, Academics Team, and others. Education Abroad Advising

– Advise individual students about program opportunities, eligibility, logistics, finances, visas, and post‑arrival procedures. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of policies, offer alternative options when students are ineligible, and record advising sessions. General Support

– Participate in summer committees, outreach events, and initiatives to advance EA’s strategic plan and improve office efficiencies, and provide backup support for other team members when needed. Benefits

The salary range for this position is $55,000 – $62,000 annually. What We Require

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. A demonstrated significant intercultural experience, and/or overseas life/work experience. At least two years of professional experience in an education abroad office or a related student services department or study abroad provider organization, demonstrating progressively responsible work in higher education. Must be capable of traveling outside the U.S. What You Will Need

Detail‑oriented and accurate. Proficient in Excel, SharePoint, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Terra Dotta Software or similar. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Excellent computer and technology skills. What We Would Like You To Have

At least two years of experience in an education abroad office or related student services department. Experience as a participant in an undergraduate study abroad program. Professional experience in marketing, advertising, and/or outreach. Experience working with faculty‑led programming. Understanding of a large public research institution’s academic programs and degree requirements. Familiarity with the University of Colorado Boulder. Application Materials
