Clinical Audiologist – University of Utah Health
Join us as a
Clinical Audiologist
to provide comprehensive services related to prevention, identification, assessment, and management of disorders of the auditory and balance systems. This role involves direct patient care within our patient‑focused, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Determine appropriate audiometric tests and assess hearing status.
Consult patients or families regarding test results, hearing loss, intervention, and rehabilitation.
Recommend and coordinate referrals.
Document hearing assessment results and submit billing information.
Maintain and calibrate department equipment used for evaluation.
Perform sound level measurements of areas within the hospital and clinics when necessary.
Lead in‑services or instruction for medical staff.
Develop reports and maintain department program information.
Evaluate patient need for a hearing device, determine type, fit, program, and maintain hearing equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to perform essential functions of the job as outlined above.
Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
Knowledge of evaluating and treating hearing disorders, providing intervention techniques, hearing aids, and aural habilitation.
Recognize scope of practice and refer to other health‑care professionals as needed.
Understanding of principles of lifespan growth and development, with ability to assess data and provide care per department policies.
Qualifications Licenses Required:
Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system (obtain within 30 days of hire).
Current licensure in Audiology from the State of Utah.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional experience and training in specialty areas.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting. Requirements include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving patients or objects such as medical equipment, up to 50 pounds. Ability to perceive normal speaking level sounds, receive detailed oral communication, and make fine discrimination in sound is essential.
