Summary: The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in the Specialty Service Line to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission.
Major Duties
The NP provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management.
Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice.
Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services.
Provides education to patients and their families.
Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

This position may require flexibility in schedule and assignments.
All other duties as assigned.
Licensure and Conditions of Employment
U.S. Citizenship (non‑citizens may be appointed only if no qualified citizens are available).
Pre‑employment drug screening and background/security investigation.
English language proficiency as required by VA policy.
Selective Service registration required for eligible males.
Must pass a pre‑employment physical examination.
Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required.
Driver’s license or state‑issued identification must be REAL ID compliant.
Qualifications
Education: Post‑master’s certificate or master’s/doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner from a school approved by ACEN or CCNE.
License: Active, current, full, and unrestricted NP license in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or District of Columbia.
Board Certification: Current basic board certification in one of the following specialties from ANCC, AANPCB, or a nationally recognized certifying body: Family NP (FNP), Adult NP (ANP), Adult‑Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP), Acute Care NP (ACNP), Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP), or Gerontology NP (GNP).
Professional Experience: Meets basic education requirements for an NP and at least one year of specialized NP experience equivalent to the Nurses II grade level.
Benefits and Compensation Competitive salary with regular increases, potential for performance awards.
Paid Time Off: 50 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays).
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5‑year vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5 % VA contribution.
Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, long‑term care, and other federal health plans extend into retirement.
Work Schedule Monday‑Friday, 08:00‑16:30. Telework and virtual position are not available.
