Software Engineer II - Ruby on Rails @ Care.com

Salt Lake City, Utah (Hybrid – in office Mon, Wed, Thu; remote flexibility)

What You'll Be Working On
Design, develop, and deploy features on both the front‑end and back‑end of our provider network platform.
Integrate with essential third‑party services and APIs.
Maintain appropriate automated test coverage to ensure uptime and product reliability.
Communicate blockers and progress with engineering teammates and cross‑functional partners.
Lead the revamp of legacy systems (currently built in Java/.NET with MySQL).
Rapidly grow the platform and add new functionalities.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
3‑5 years of software development experience in a fast‑paced environment.
Expertise in Ruby on Rails, with a passion for exploring other frameworks and technologies (e.g., Go, React, GitHub Actions).
Strong communication skills and a proven track record of working across engineering, product, and business teams.
Enjoy building new features as well as refactoring and testing existing code.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Nice to have: Experience using Heroku, AWS, Stripe, Solr, Minitest/Capybara, Java, PostgreSQL, or similar tools.
Benefits & Compensation Salary range: $120,000 – $145,000 (industry‑adjusted); competitive benefits including health insurance, life and disability coverage, 401(k) with employer match, paid holidays, and generous PTO. Bonuses and other incentives may also be offered.
