Responsibilities Provides management oversight for multiple nursing neighborhoods and assists the Director of Nursing as needed. Acts as a resource to staff regarding administrative programs, policies, and changes. Promotes a collaborative approach with physicians and other health‑care disciplines. Sets a positive example in performance, attitude, and adherence to policies and procedures. Analyzes problems, offers recommendations, and demonstrates initiative in problem resolution. Investigates unusual situations/incidents and takes appropriate follow‑up action. Identifies resident concerns and needs. Communicates events requiring administrative attention to the Director of Nursing. Recommends corrective action when problems are identified, taking immediate action when a situation indicates. Makes nursing inquiries for new and re‑admit patients, calling physicians, family, social workers, and nursing staff, then logging all inquiries. Collaborates with admitting personnel in assigning beds for admissions and/or transfer of patients. Submits written communication that is clear, concise, and accurate. Meets corporate and departmental goals. Is proactive in identifying key strategies for improvement. Empowers staff by promoting accountability, responsibility, and authority to enhance resident care. Conducts investigations of incident occurrences, including initiating anecdotes and contacting staff at home and the agency as necessary. Ensures interventions are implemented and maintains a log of all incidents. Assesses staffing requirements and makes changes to ensure safe, quality resident care. Evaluates and disciplines staff on the shift; notifies the Director of Nursing of actions taken. Provides counseling and guidance to employees as needed. Develops and implements an ongoing infection prevention and control program. Establishes facility‑wide systems for the prevention, identification, reporting, investigation, and control of infections and communicable diseases. Oversees the facility’s antibiotic stewardship program and infection prevention activities. Leads the facility’s Infection and Prevention Control Committee. Participates on the facility’s QAA Committee and reviews the program annually. Provides education related to infection prevention principles. Collaborates with other departments on occupational health and safety. Serves as liaison between the lab and pharmacy and the Director of Nursing and staff nurses. Performs impromptu rounds to keep work areas clean and clear of obstacles. Handles weekend on‑call duties, staffing, incident reporting, and troubleshooting. Attends care plan meetings, completes assigned sections of the MDS, monitors work‑compensation therapies, and performs restorative nursing program rounds. Maintains restraint reduction program records. May be assigned other duties as appropriate.

Job Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent preferred

Current RN license in the state of employment

Completed specialized training in infection prevention and control through accredited continuing education

Three to four years of recent nursing experience with demonstrated administrative and supervisory competency

One year of management experience preferred

Strong communication, organization, and planning skills

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time

Ability to lift heavy objects using proper lifting techniques with assistance when necessary

Ability to transfer and move residents and assist those weighing over 200 lbs with proper techniques

Ability to push and pull equipment weighing over 40 lbs with proper techniques and assistance when necessary

Manual dexterity, coordination, and skillful use of hands when working with residents and equipment

Ability to perform necessary documentation

Visual acuity

Must be able to manage a diversity of activities

Salary Pay range: $65,798 - $109,663 annually.
