Job Summary And Qualifications HCA Healthcare is looking for an experienced and innovative Data Modeler to lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance data products on Google Cloud. In this role, you will be at the forefront of transforming raw data into actionable insights by creating robust architectures that integrate seamlessly into our enterprise ecosystem.

The Data Modeler will play a critical role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. You will work closely with Data Product Owners to understand product requirements, ensure alignment with business goals, and design solutions that meet operational and analytical needs.

This position requires a deep understanding of the architecture of business data source systems, their structures, communication protocols, and interfaces. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a mastery of data analysis, logical data modeling, and the ability to identify opportunities for data reuse and transformation. You will design data architectures that address gaps, optimize performance, and enforce enterprise standards in cybersecurity, governance, and compliance.

As a key contributor to HCA’s data strategy, you will also develop and maintain a comprehensive data architecture roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities and evolving technology trends. By integrating advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities, you will help HCA Healthcare maximize the value of its data to improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.

What you will do

Define data modeling standards and frameworks for the organization

Work with stakeholders to implement data governance and security controls

Perform advanced data analysis to inform design decisions and ensure alignment with business needs.

Create logical data models or object models of moderate complexity to address business challenges.

Develop data modeling automation frameworks to enhance consistency

Implement advanced metadata management and data quality monitoring

Define data transformation requirements and implement efficient solutions.

Implement enterprise data management practices, standards, and frameworks for Data

Ensure data governance and security best practices are followed

Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on SQL queries and ETL pipelines

Build automated validation processes for data integrity checks

Partner with Data Product Owners to gather and refine requirements for data products.

Work with senior leaders to define enterprise data strategy

Translate business needs into technical designs that align with organizational goals.

Drive adoption of standardized data modeling frameworks

Work closely with data engineers to implement complex models

Advocate for data quality and integrity across all projects

Understand and apply communication protocols and interfaces used by business systems to enable efficient data integration.

Ensure high availability and scalability in data models

Evaluate the adoption of modern data storage and processing paradigms

Evaluate and recommend new data modeling tools and technologies

Optimize cloud data structures for performance and scalability.

Translate project-specific requirements into a cloud structure that meets those requirements, as well as taking into account the project’s resource use and scalability requirements.

Assess and identify gaps in data architecture, systems, and workflows.

Optimize data models for performance.

Establish guidelines for schema evolution and data interoperability

Recommend and implement changes to improve data quality, accessibility, and consistency.

Design schemas and structures for data products that are robust, scalable, and secure.

Integrate data products with business systems, workflows, and analytical tools.

Ensure data products are optimized for machine learning, real-time analytics, and other advanced use cases.

Identify the best cloud architecture options to help the firm accomplish its strategic goals.

Good understanding of cloud computing concepts

Maintain and enforce enterprise data architecture guidelines, including data governance, cybersecurity, metadata management, and auditability.

Define best practices for schema versioning and evolution

Establish enterprise data governance policies

Work with security teams to define data access control policies

Collaborate with governance teams to enhance metadata management

Enforce enterprise-wide data modeling standards

Collaborate across various verticals to ensure compliance and data quality.

Work with senior member of the team and establish data architecture roadmap aligned with HCA’s strategic priorities.

Continuously evolve the architecture to address emerging technologies and business requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or combination of education and professional experience required

Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred

5+ years of experience in data management, data products, or analytics required

Expertise in SQL optimization and data modeling techniques

Ability to write, tune, and interpret SQL queries; Experience with GCP Big Query is a big plus

Hands on Experience with GIT and GitHub version control.

Strong ability to present complex technical concepts to leadership

Extensive experience in architecture, construction, and implementation of data-intensive solutions

Strong understanding of metadata management and data cataloging

Adeptness to learn new assignments, technologies and applications quickly and manage multiple assignments simultaneously

Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, reverse engineer and optimize existing ETL pipelines.

Hands-on experience with Python, Dataflow and Cloud Composer

Ability to analyze and interpret complex data, and offer solutions to complex clinical problems.

Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.

Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may understand.

Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Knowledge of IT governance and operations.
