Team Profile The Firmwide Data Office department is recruiting for an enthusiastic, dynamic, hands‑on, delivery‑focused Ontologist/graph developer for an innovative program that plans to harness the power of Graph & Semantic Technologies to build an Enterprise Knowledge Graph—to solve complex business problems and deliver value to various business divisions. The team vision is a multi‑year effort to simplify firm’s data architecture and business processes front‑to‑back with goals of reducing infrastructure and manpower costs, improving the ability to demonstrate control of data, empowering developers by providing consistent means of handling data, facilitating data‑driven insights & decision making, and providing a platform to implement future change initiatives faster, cheaper and easier.

What You Will Do In The Role

Participate in ontology creation, ontology management and semantic enrichment efforts; work on strategies to leverage ontologies to facilitate natural language processing including fact extraction, document classification and query processing.

Devise and implement processes to validate data in a semantic context and develop metrics and procedures for assessing, managing and characterizing datasets.

Work with data analysts to design procedures to leverage knowledge graph data in a machine learning space.

Contribute to data architecture and data management strategy design.

Promote the creation of semantic data models and SPARQL endpoints to link quality data.

Develop processes and procedures to integrate taxonomies into the knowledge graph environment.

Participate in collaborating with the Firm’s Ontology and Semantic Modeling consortium to develop standards and best practices.

Collaborate with business and other technology teams to translate business requirements into innovative solutions implementing performant, scalable, resilient distributed applications.

Work closely with business and technology stakeholders to align development priorities & planning with product and technology roadmap.

Act as a thought leader in the technical space through researching and knowing industry trends as well as cutting‑edge tools and technologies.

What You Will Bring to the Role

Experience and expertise in W3C compliant semantic models (RDF, OWL and SPARQL).

Experience with relevant ontology development tools and industry standard knowledge graph database tooling.

5+ years complex enterprise‑scale data & metadata architecture experience.

Demonstrable experience in developing mappings and transformation processes to take data from a relational paradigm into a knowledge environment.

Strong problem‑solving skills, business acumen, and demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills with both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Desired Skills

Proficient in Python, Java, Jscript or other programming languages.

Experience in utilizing ontology in developing natural language processing solutions.

Experience utilizing graph data in a machine learning environment tools.

Experience in creating data validation processes using SHACL, SPARQL or other rule languages.

Experience in Financial Services working with various front‑to‑back business functions like Sales and Trading, Operations, Finance etc. or in an Information Management framework.

Education Bachelor’s degree in information science, computer science, library science, computational linguistics, mathematics, philosophy or related discipline.

Expected base pay for the role will be between $150,000 to $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment, with additional compensation components such as commission, incentive, bonuses, and benefit programs.
