Nome Public Schools is a learning community of 660 students and 50 teachers.
Candidates must possess an Alaska Initial Teacher Certification or an Alaskan Professional Teacher Certification with appropriate endorsement(s), or be able to qualify for such. Prior successful Alaskan teaching experience is strongly preferred. We seek candidates with skills in culturally relevant education practices, parent and community relations, differentiated and data-based instruction, along with effective classroom behavior management. Proficiency in assessment methods and diagnostic individual learning profiles is also desirable.
Description:
Nome Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Certified Long-Term Substitute (Science) Teacher at Nome-Beltz High School. The position is expected to begin August 26, 2025.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have, or be eligible to obtain, an Alaska Initial or Professional Teacher Certification with appropriate endorsements. Prior successful Alaskan teaching experience is preferred.
Additional Information:
Candidates with current out-of-state certificates are welcome. All certified areas may be considered.
Working Conditions:
This is a temporary position. The Long-Term Alaska Certified Substitute Teacher will be paid per the negotiated agreement. No additional benefits are provided. Housing is available but not included.
