Main duties We’re seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented individual to support the Cardio‑Respiratory department in delivering high‑quality patient care.
In this role, you will:
Provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support across the service.
Manage patient referrals, outpatient appointments, clinic changes, and urgent return bookings.
Ensure all actions comply with the Patient Access Policy.
Accurately collect and input data into the relevant IT systems.

Job responsibilities The post holder will provide vital administrative support to the Cardio‑Respiratory department, working closely with the Head of Department and Office Manager to ensure accurate data entry, efficient appointment scheduling, and compliance with the Trusts Access Policy. They will manage patient referrals, diagnostic bookings, clinic changes, and waiting lists, with a strong focus on slot utilisation and service performance.
This role demands excellent communication and organisational skills, as the post holder will handle sensitive information, take ownership of own workload, play a proactive role in improving patient experience and service quality while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
Person Specification Qualifications
Educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent).
Experience
Experience of handling and validating complex processing issues where detailed data and process understanding is required in order to take corrective action.
Experience of working face to face and/or telephone contact with the general public including the handling of complaints and complex calls.
Previous clerical experience working in an NHS operational setting.
Experience/knowledge of clinical systems, data input, and working in Excel.
Experience of working with the 18 week RTT policy and other national standards and ensuring that service quality is maintained.
Experience of providing guidance to other team members on the processes and policies being executed by the team.
Experience of offering suggestions for improving own or team working practices.
Previous NHS experience.
