Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000

Regular (not temporary)

Reporting to the Director of Funds Flow for CUIMC, the Finance Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of the department programmatic, research, and teaching support agreements between NYP and CUIMC as well as the accuracy and review of faculty effort reporting, which informs the mission‑based profit and loss statements used for Funds Flow.

This role requires an understanding of both finance and operations as it relates to the impacts of the funding CUIMC receives from NYP. You will communicate with Chairs, DAs, CUIMC leadership, and NYP Leadership, be responsive to internal and external deadlines, and be highly organized, self‑motivated, reliable, conscientious, and able to solve analytical problems.

Responsibilities Operations

Open and close the quarterly effort reporting process. Review submissions from departments for adherence to effort allocation guidelines and work with Department Administrators to update effort allocations.

Open and close the annual mission‑based profit and loss statement reporting process. In conjunction with the Director of Funds Flow, revise allocation rules as needed and work with departments on local level refinement.

Create, document, and communicate new Funds Flow Identification Numbers to both departments and NYP for consistent tracking and constant reconciliation of Funds Flow agreements.

Run the annual Funds Flow process for one third of the departments in conjunction with the Director of Funds Flow, preparing the packet for review by department, senior leadership of NYP and CUIMC.

Prepare the annual formulaic support funding calculations and update the amounts for the Funds Flow Identification Numbers, providing transparency to departments and leadership.

Demonstrate professionalism and accountability in interactions with stakeholders through clear, respectful, and timely communication and responsive follow‑up.

Strategic

Gather data and reports on analysis to support forecasting and make recommendations for improvements and optimization.

Help leadership understand the financial implications of strategic decisions by providing financial insights and benchmarking.

Support interdisciplinary leaders to report on key performance indicators.

Escalate and address feedback from key stakeholders in departments, central business office & vendors.

Compliance

Maintain current knowledge regarding financial mechanisms within the healthcare industry.

Conform to all applicable HIPAA, fiscal compliance and other pertinent regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, including four (4) years of related experience in grants and financial management.

Knowledge of finance and accounting best practices.

Strong critical thinking and analytical skills as well as attention to detail.

Strong Excel skills are essential, including the ability to create and present reports.

Capacity to work independently and successfully within a deadline‑driven, multi‑tasking operating environment; demonstrate sound judgement in managing time, prioritizing, and decision‑making.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to be a liaison and deliver excellent customer service to all stakeholders, including principal investigators/faculty and personnel in central offices.

Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality, possess a high level of professionalism, and be customer service driven.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a faculty practice setting.

Familiarity with Columbia systems.
