Payroll Specialist
We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist to process semi‑monthly payroll cycles for salaried employees, primarily engineers. The role involves managing multi‑state employee taxes and ensuring compliance with state regulations. You will coordinate with HR and Accounting teams to ensure accurate time‑card management and job costing, oversee payroll software setup and maintenance, and reconcile payroll tax returns.
Responsibilities
Process semi‑monthly payroll cycles for salaried employees.
Manage multi‑state employee taxes and ensure compliance with state regulations.
Coordinate with HR and Accounting teams for accurate time‑card management and job costing.
Oversee payroll software setup and maintenance, ensuring accurate data flow and system configuration.
Reconcile payroll tax returns and address state tax notices in coordination with UKG.
Generate payroll reports and assist in building out reporting capabilities using Excel.
Support training and onboarding of payroll processes, with initial in‑office training followed by a hybrid work schedule.
Collaborate with HR on benefits and payroll administration.
Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all payroll‑related activities.
Essential Skills
2+ years of multi‑state payroll processing experience.
2+ years of experience with large HRIS systems (ADP, Workday, UKG).
2+ years of payroll tax experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with UKG systems is preferred.
Work Environment This is a long‑term, contract‑to‑hire position with flexibility. Initially the candidate will undergo 4‑6 weeks of training primarily in the office. Following this, the role will transition to a hybrid schedule requiring in‑office presence 2‑3 days per week during payroll weeks (bi‑weekly) and remote work on other days. The office building is uniquely designed to resemble a castle and provides a collaborative environment with HR, accounting, and payroll staff. The company is experiencing growth, acquiring new businesses, and expanding regional offices. Comprehensive benefits, including an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), are available.
Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
Pay & Benefits Pay range: $34.00 – $38.50/hr.
