Description Our Prep Cook’s primary responsibility is to collaborate with the Chef/Sous Chef in producing, creating, and improving items. The Prep Cook is engaged in preparing and cooking food for guests and coworkers, portioning meats, fishes, and produce, preparing daily dishes such as sauces and soups, ensuring compliance with food safety handling policies, and maintaining an organized, hygienic work area. The Prep Cook must be familiar with Lawry’s appearance standards, safety procedures, and overall kitchen operations.

Essential Functions

Consistently meet Lawry’s standards for quality and professionalism.

Comply with all employment related policies and maintain accurate records.

Respect company property and assets.

Maintain proper food handling and sanitation standards.

Demonstrate safe work habits, especially with knife handling.

Keep work and dining areas clean and free of hazards.

Check in food deliveries and verify invoices.

Stock merchandise in dry storage and other locations.

Prepare Yorkshire batter, au jus mix, gravy, salad, prime rib reheats, mashed potatoes, beet puree, etc., following current recipes.

Bake homemade bread, operate ovens, handle ordering systems efficiently.

Maintain inventory of dairy products and assist with ordering.

Operate all cooking and preparation equipment safely.

Work efficiently, accurately and quickly to expedite guest orders.

Contribute to meeting unit food cost goals through portion and waste control.

Assist coworker duties during off‑peak hours.

Attend mandatory meetings, training, and educational sessions.

Report damaged or malfunctioning fixtures and equipment promptly.

Position Qualifications

Confidence, energy, enthusiasm with a professional, clean appearance.

Physical and mental health to perform job requirements, including standing up to 8 hours, carrying up to 100 lbs.

Availability to work all scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Effective communication in spoken and written English.

Basic math proficiency.

Able to follow basic recipes and instructions.

Reliable transportation.

Current local/state Food Handler’s Training Certification.

Experience At least one (1) year of experience as a Prep Cook in a high‑end dining establishment.

Licenses / Certifications Current local/state Food Handler’s Training Certification.

Computer Skills Basic familiarity with computers and calculators.

Education High school diploma or GED preferred; some college or culinary education beneficial.

Salary Range $17–$19 per hour.
