Responsibilities

Process daily sales information through the appropriate software including integration of information into SAGE software.

Review, check, and verify store and auction reports for accuracy and completion; ensure that the deposit matches totals on store reports; check all bank card deposits, cash deposits, "Z" counts, voids, and similar activities to verify store reports in compliance with standard operating procedures.

Ensure timely submission of daily sales reports to the Director of Finance and other management personnel upon request.

Oversee cash register policies and procedures and ensure they are up-to-date and distributed to store personnel and managers in a timely manner.

Assist in performing audit checks of cash registers in stores; ensure that cash in the register balances with daily sales tapes.

Assist with receiving, recording and verifying cash receipts and deposits; prepare daily tabulations and reports of cash receipts; distribute receipts to proper funds; make daily entries into cash receipts ledger.

Work with personnel to resolve mistakes or problems found in reports; troubleshoot problems with the cash register system.

Assist in preparing and reviewing various financial and statistical reports and spreadsheets for accuracy and completeness.

Assist with processing of invoices, billings, vouchers, checks, check requests, payments and/or deposits; review and verify for accuracy and completeness.

Assist with applying accurate code numbers to financial documents and batches totals; keypunch information into the computer to generate invoices, reports, spreadsheets, and financial documents.

Assist in researching and reconciling accounts to ensure documents are accurate; prepare correspondences regarding the status of accounts and respond to inquiries; ensure correspondences are professional and tactful.

Assist in maintaining petty cash and assist with collecting, counting, recording and depositing vending machine revenues.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of basic accounting and/or bookkeeping practices and procedures.

Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles and applications to accounting transactions.

Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.

Knowledge of computer spreadsheet and word processing software.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to read and comprehend manuals and written instructions.

Ability to alphabetize, organize, and maintain various files.

Ability to process financial and other documents in compliance with established policies and procedures.

Ability to maintain the confidential nature of related information.

Education and Experience Some college, and two to five years of progressively responsible experience in a general office environment with accounting and/or bookkeeping responsibilities, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge of SAGE accounting software is a plus.

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to successfully meet tight deadlines.

Ability to perform mathematical calculations and type/punch information into a computer.

Ability to perform routine and complex mathematical computations repeatedly, rapidly and accurately.

Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.

Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically.

Ability to operate general office equipment including a telephone, typewriter, computer and adding machine.

Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

Limited physical effort required associated with sitting, walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
