The role supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism by leading and monitoring Competency Attainment Services (CAS) for youth receiving those services. Damar, founded in 1967, is a mission‑driven non‑profit providing behavioral health and I/DD services across Indiana.

Role Summary This Specialized Initiatives Coordinator is responsible for leading, directing, and monitoring Competency Attainment Services (CAS). The role manages direct competency work and case management for assigned clients, ensuring compliance with Damar’s Strategic Plan, state and court requirements, and regulatory standards of care.

Responsibilities

Oversee electronic and paper records ensuring compliance with regulatory standards of care.

Manage day‑to‑day program operations for CAS.

Provide direct competency and case management services.

Deliver emergency/crisis services for youth in the program.

Complete the kidstraks referral process and gather pertinent documentation from referral sources.

Develop and maintain positive professional collaboration and partnerships.

Create and validate provider invoices for monthly report submissions and compile invoicing documentation for finance, DCS and Choices.

Manage payment of DCS invoices and submission of rebills/denials.

Complete tasks ensuring the department meets quality improvement, evaluation and reporting requirements.

Adhere to court orders related to competency attainment and Damar policies and procedures.

Participate in child and family team meetings and court hearings to update on competency attainment attempts.

Seek optimal use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

Act as a steward of Damar and client finances, completing regular file audits to ensure alignment of billable hours, progress notes, invoices and other reporting documentation.

Track and maintain caseload data such as training requirements, billing, quality and compliance information.

Actively participate in data collection and use of data to improve outcomes and practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field required.

Experience working with children with challenging behaviors, developmental and/or emotional disabilities preferred.

Successful completion of pre‑employment physical.

Must meet Damar’s background screening requirements.

Essential Job Functions – Physical Requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; stand or sit for prolonged periods; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 35 lbs; operate office equipment; travel to other locations via private or commercial transportation; and verbally communicate.

Essential Job Functions – Vision & Hearing Vision: normal visual range with or without correction. Hearing: normal audio range with or without correction.
