POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Note: All official drafts, documents and recommendations, as listed below, must be reviewed, finalized and approved / accepted by appropriate BPA manager or other federal personnel with the authority to do so.
Create complex stored procedures from user requirements
Provide performance tuning for SQL stored procedures
Mine the data from various databases used to support BPA Transmission Operations and provide the results in the form of custom reports to various customers within Transmission Operations.
Required reporting includes routine processes that are able to be reused by various customers and other situations that are a one-off and require a quick report to be created to address a specific need (i.e. response to on-site auditors).
Provide Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and North American Electric Reliability Corporation critical infrastructure protection (NERC CIP) related activities associated with database security and management, per established processes, including:
Administration and support of:
Enterprise level SQL Server 2019 and later
MySQL 5.x and later
Windows Server 2016 and later
Data Analysis and Design
Automation using PowerShell, WMI, SMO and .Net
Remote server monitoring
Reporting:
Requirements gathering
Report creation and customization
Develop and document approved processes and procedures
Compliance with all applicable regulations (FISMA, NERC-CIP, NIST, BPA, etc.)
Analyze the Windows Server and/or DBMS and CCN environment for processing and performance tuning. Recommend required system modifications, develop and provide implementation plans.
Provide developer and end-user support for databases including maintaining existing views and procedures, performance tuning, and troubleshooting database problems as needed.
Provide Windows Server support for users including maintaining privileges, installing applications, performance tuning, and troubleshooting problems as needed.
Recommend effective consolidation strategies.
Participate in project and/or technical meetings as requested to provide technical recommendations from a DBA perspective on the risks, impacts and strategies related to process and project decisions.
Communicate with a wide variety of technical and business experts in both individual and group settings using email, self-generated documentation and presentations.
Maintain filing system(s), files, emails and records in accordance with compliance requirements. File and disperse documents/letters only to appropriate personnel. Maintain all official records in accordance with the Information Governance & Lifecycle Management (IGLM) and Information Security (INFOSEC) standards and procedures. Validate official records are accurately maintained for auditing purposes.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Corresponding Experience (required on matrix)
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a directly-related technical field is preferred.
Level 2:
5 years of experience is required with an Applicable Bachelor's Degree in applicable fields.
7 years of experience is required with an Applicable Associate's Degree in applicable fields.
9 years of experience is required without a degree.
Experience must include direct work experience in Computer/Information technology performing Database Administration.
