Super Products is hiring: Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Merrillville

Overview

Heavy Equipment Mechanic at Super Products, Merrillville, Indiana. The Mechanic will perform service and repairs on truck-mounted vacuum equipment, including troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Some field service and repair calls may be required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
• Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Perform all scheduled PM inspections of chassis, vacuum body, hydraulic, electrical, air and water systems
• Conduct repairs within DOT or OEM standards and service to return rental equipment to "Ready to Rent" status
• Perform and document "check in" and "check out" inspections of fleet equipment
• Maintain and organize shop and storage areas and ensure proper storage of flammable items

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Solid understanding of the function, operation, and maintenance of truck-mounted vacuum equipment
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data, drawings, and schematics
• Ability to administer DOT inspections
• Basic computer skills; organized and able to multi-task
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; self-motivated and accountable
• Must own and supply a basic set of hand tools; company provides all large and specialized tools

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum three (3) years, verifiable experience as a mechanic
• Experience with truck-mounted vacuum equipment preferred
