Description We are looking for an experienced Director of Accounting to lead and manage the financial operations of a dynamic retail organization based in Wantagh, New York. This role involves overseeing multiple revenue streams, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and optimizing accounting processes. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in retail accounting and inventory management, coupled with strong leadership skills to guide a dedicated team. Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the accounting department, including a team of three detail-oriented individuals.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance across three revenue streams: online sales, retail operations, and external sales channels.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and utilize accounting software systems such as Xorosoft and Shopify to streamline operations.
- Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes to ensure timely transactions.
- Lead the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts to support strategic planning.
- Conduct audits and reviews to maintain accuracy and integrity in financial records.
- Collaborate with other departments to improve CRM and inventory management systems.
- Provide guidance and training to the team to foster skill development.
- Maintain in-office presence five days a week to ensure effective communication and oversight. Requirements - Proven experience in accounting within the retail industry.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software systems such as Xorosoft, Shopify, and BlackLine.
- Familiarity with ADP, Concur, and CRM systems.
- Expertise in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Experience in auditing and budget preparation.
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team.
