Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land‑grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. Job Summary

Fort Valley State University's Office of Marketing & Communications is seeking a detail‑oriented and motivated administrative assistant to support the daily operations of the department. The ideal candidate will provide organizational and communication support to help advance the University's branding and marketing initiatives.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit and proofread various storytelling elements, including stories, design and other communications.
  • Help coordinate, track and manage project timelines, marketing requests and deliverables.
  • Support social media scheduling, content creation, and analytics reporting.
  • Provide administrative support including scheduling, answering phones, managing emails, and maintaining files.
  • Assist with coordinating departmental events, photo shoots and marketing campaigns.
  • Process purchase requests, invoices and budget tracking for departmental expenditures.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for students, faculty, staff and external partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Office of Marketing & Communications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Administrative experience in an office or academic setting

Knowledge Required by the Position

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with project management or content tools a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Professionalism, discretion, and a customer service‑oriented mindset.
