Job Summary

The Associate Head Strength Coach delivers strength and conditioning services to all NCAA Division‑I intercollegiate athletes at Northeastern University who compete in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and Hockey East. The associate head strength coach is expected to handle weight room scheduling, club sports training coordination, as well as the graduate assistant and intern coach programs. Serves as a senior staff member for the return to performance committee and is expected to provide guidance on all training plans of rehabbing athletes. Supports and mentors the assistant strength coaches on staff. Provides performance interventions to athletes as assigned and demonstrates proficiency with all scientific methods outlined by the department. Responsibilities also include establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors for weight room upgrades and maintenance, coordinating special projects assigned by the Head Strength Coach, and implementing training programs with teams or athletes not directly assigned.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Provide strength and conditioning training services to maintain the well‑being of intercollegiate athletes and manage emergency medical services to prevent catastrophic and life‑threatening injury at athletic practices and events.
  • Oversee daily operating procedures for strength and conditioning training facilities, including master scheduling of the weight room, establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors, and coordinating scheduling and communication for club services.
  • Communicate as a senior staff member with coaches, administrators, athletic training, and medicine staff regarding injured athletes and athletes with acute and chronic performance limiters, including weekly meetings with the Senior Staff Care Team and liaison to other allied health professionals.
  • Maintain comprehensive, accurate conditioning records and performance testing reports for sports performance staff, coaches, and athletes.

Graduate Assistant and Intern Coaching

Coordinate outreach, scheduling, and student development curriculum for graduate assistant and intern coaches, mentor the assistant strength coaches, and collaborate with clinical students from both Northeastern University and visiting academic institutions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • CSCS certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3–5 years of related experience.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior collegiate experience.
  • Managerial experience.
  • Master’s degree in a related field.

Compensation

Pay grade: 107S. Expected hiring range: $52,820.00 – $74,607.50.
