Maintenance Technician-Tractor/Heavy Equipment Operator

Location: Paterson, WA. Company: Columbia Crest Winery.

Position Overview: A full‑time role that involves repair/maintenance and troubleshooting of farm and heavy equipment, including performing routine preventative maintenance, operating heavy equipment, and maintaining company grounds. Work is primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions; personal protective equipment is required. Work schedule: 4 days, 10‑hour shifts, either Monday‑Thursday or Tuesday‑Friday.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance work, inspections, and unplanned repairs in accordance with safety procedures, OSHA standards, GMPs, FDA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Maintain farm roads using road grader, water truck and dump truck.
  • Proficient operation of backhoe to maintain irrigation systems.
  • Work with outside contractors to fulfill facilities mechanical needs.
  • Ensure proper attachments, hoses, belts, etc. are used and maintained.
  • Perform all daily machine checks and maintenance needs; ensure proper greasing, oiling, minor repairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment.
  • Understand machine limits and operate within bounds.
  • Ensure proper handling of equipment while in operation, keeping awareness of perimeter.
  • Ensure safety training is current; understand dig laws, locates and color codes.
  • Promote teamwork and train crew members in operating techniques.
  • Maintain efficiency and quality throughout assigned projects with cooperation.
  • Understand soils and equipment interaction.
  • Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software) System JDE to create work orders, document work performed, and schedule follow‑up repairs.
  • Follow company safety and GMP procedures and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
  • 3–5 years experience on agricultural equipment, industrial maintenance, or automotive maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to become forklift certified.
  • Welding experience and minor equipment repair preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours including all shifts, hours, and locations in Eastern Washington.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, twisting, pushing and pulling heavy objects, working at heights with fall protection equipment, and working at waist‑and‑below levels.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English; comprehend schematics and instructions.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining positive working relationships in a team environment.
  • History of responsible alcohol use and conduct; fitness to be licensed/approved by state/local regulatory bodies.

Compensation

$30.02 – $39.03 per hour based upon experience.
