What You Will Be Doing
We are seeking a passionate and driven Buyer to lead our Circular Economy & Sustainable Waste Solutions segment, a critical role at the intersection of sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence. This position is responsible for managing all waste streams across our North American production plants and distribution centers, including:
Production waste: metals, plastics, liquids, and other by‑products
Hazardous and non‑hazardous materials
New initiatives: including the collection and recycling of used truck batteries
You will play a key role in shaping our circular economy strategy, identifying opportunities to reduce environmental impact, and unlocking value through waste recovery and recycling. This is a high‑visibility role with cross‑functional collaboration across multiple brands and stakeholders. We’re looking for someone who can own and drive this segment with confidence, someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder environment and is motivated by the opportunity to make a measurable difference.
You will be accountable for the Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature, Technology, Sustainability, and Risk Management (QDCFTSR) of suppliers within the segment. You will be responsible for making sure that the segment business plan is implemented through the selection of the right suppliers, and by continuously securing supplier QDCFTSR performance by using the tools and purchasing/cross‑functional network during production and post‑production phases. This position will be based out of our Greensboro, NC headquarter location and will report to the Head of Energy, Innovation, and IT Purchasing North America.

Main Areas Of Responsibilities
Own and drive the waste management and recycling procurement strategy across all sites
Develop supplier partnerships focused on innovation, compliance, and sustainability
Lead sourcing activities for hazardous and non‑hazardous waste streams
Launch and manage new initiatives, including battery recycling programs
Collaborate with internal stakeholders across operations, sustainability, and brand teams
Monitor regulatory compliance and industry best practices
Identify cost‑saving and value‑creation opportunities through circular solutions
Contribute to segment business plan & be an active member in the global network of Buyers
Assist in driving all relevant activities to deliver on Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature, Technology, Sustainability, and Risk Management targets (QDCFTSR)
Work to forecast cost evolution for scope of responsibility
Perform daily purchasing activities related to production orders, logistics, and financial flows to the suppliers
What We Are Looking For
3-5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or sustainability‑related roles
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or similar, or related work experience
Strong understanding of waste management, recycling, or environmental compliance is a plus
Ability to lead cross‑functional projects and influence diverse stakeholders
Strategic mindset with hands‑on execution capability
Passion for sustainability and driving measurable impact
Good business acumen, communication skills, agile in way of working
Desire to work in a collaborative team towards a common purpose

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $72,600 - $89,700 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work‑related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
