About the Job
The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Research Coordinator (Research Professional 1 or 2) to join our research team for a series of projects on treatment development for disease of addiction. These project aims to investigate the potential of various brain imaging and neuromodulation techniques and cognitive interventions.
The selected candidate will play a key role in coordinating and conducting clinical research activities related to these projects. We hope to make a partnership between Minnesota Recovery Communities and Medical Discovery Team on Addiction (MDTA) at University of Minnesota to launch a Neuroscience-informed Intervention Co-Development (NICD) pipeline to address interventional needs within the communities, with the communities and for the communities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Research Professional 1
Collects & organizes patient data
Maintains records and databases
Uses software programs to generate graphs and reports
Managing the recruitment, screening, and enrollment of research patients
Obtains patient study data from medical records, physicians, etc.
Conducts library searches
Verifies accuracy of study forms
Updates study forms per protocol
Documents patient visits and procedures
Assists with regulatory binders and QA/QC procedures
Assists with interviewing study subjects
Administers psychiatric assessments and scores questionnaires
Provides basic explanation of study and in some cases obtains informed consent from subjects
Performs study procedures, which may include neuromodulation (TMS and tES, training will be offered by study team), phlebotomy (a course is offered at UMN), etc.
Assists with study regulatory submissions
Ensuring compliance with the UMN IRB and other federal and institutional guidelines
Writes consent forms
Verifies subject inclusion/exclusion criteria
Periodic special projects, such as a grant submission or a journal article submission
Performs administrative support duties as required
Research Professional 2 A Clinical Research Coordinator II performs the duties of a Clinical Research Coordinator I (above) and may also:
Maintain research data, patient fields, regulatory binders and study databases
Perform data analysis and QA/QC data checks
Organize and interpret data
Develop and implement recruitment strategies
Act as a study resource for patient and family
Monitor and evaluation lab and procedure data
Evaluate study questionnaires
Contribute to protocol recommendations
Assist with preparation of annual review
May assist PI to prepare complete study reports
Qualifications All required qualifications must be included in the application materials
Required Qualifications:
Research Professional 1 BA/BS degree, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least four years.
Research Professional 2 BA/BS degree, plus at least 2 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least six years.

Willingness to learn new research skills, capabilities, and procedures (e.g TMS, tES, run fMRI sessions..)
Good organizational skills
Time management and ability to prioritize

Computer literacy (prior experience with REDCap, R, Python, ... is an asset)
Working knowledge of clinical research protocols
Ability to demonstrate respect and professionalism for participants' rights and individual needs
Data management and analysis knowledge is advantageous, though not required
Ability to work independently and as a team player
Analytical skills and ability to resolve technical problems
Ability to interpret acceptability of data results
Working knowledge of data management program
