Pediatric Child Abuse Physician Opportunity at Children's Hospital of Michigan
Tenet Healthcare Corporation, Detroit, Michigan, United States, 48228
The Children’s Hospital of Michigan is actively seeking a Pediatrician specializing in Child Abuse for full-time opportunity.
About the Division : The Child At Risk Evaluation (CARE) Team at Children’s Hospital of Michigan was created specifically for protecting children from maltreatment. As specially trained medical providers, our CARE team is able to obtain additional critical details regarding a child’s injury / condition via clinical consultation or case review. The assessments often address developmental capabilities and feasibility of injury, additional history details obtained from caregivers, proximity of the caregivers at the time of the incident, and duration a child may / may not have been left unsupervised. With these comprehensive evaluations, we are able to more appropriately provide diagnoses of child maltreatment while also decreasing unnecessary reports to Children’s Protective Services for injuries / conditions that are accidental or reasonably explained by a medical condition.
Elective clinical rotations with The CARE Team are available for medical students, residents, and pediatric emergency medicine fellows.
We participate in local, state, and federal advocacy endeavors to ensure the continuation of quality service for patients and families.
Candidate Responsibilities :
Inpatient consults / chart reviews
Chart reviews of discharged patients
All communication of medical findings to community partners
Coordination and referrals to community trauma-based therapy programs
Community education primarily regarding child abuse recognition / impact
