Fire Alarm Inspector
We recruit a Fire Alarm Inspector to conduct routine tests and inspections of fire alarm and sprinkler systems, ensuring compliance with prescribed processes and maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct routine tests and inspections, documenting deficiencies of fire alarm, sprinkler, and other fire safety systems per prescribed processes.
Verify proper operation; prepare accurate, timely documentation of work performed.
Prepare inspection/deficiency reports for submission to management.
Interface with service management to ensure all work is scheduled and handled.
Interface with customers to explain work performed and answer their questions.
Resolve customer concerns quickly and effectively.
Ensure customer satisfaction and a positive customer experience.
Maintain and organize truck inventory (parts and tools) to support customers’ needs.
Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
Demonstrate a strong work ethic.
Be detail‑oriented.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of High School or Vocational training.
Experience inspecting fire alarm products, wet and dry fire sprinkler systems, or related industry experience.
Proficient in the use and application of personal computers.
Familiarity with fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems preferred.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, policies, procedures, etc. presented in English.
Certification/Licensing
Must obtain NICET Level I in Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems and NICET Level I in Inspection and Testing of Water‑Based Systems within one (1) year.
Must obtain and retain any licenses and certifications required by state and/or local codes.
Work Environment
Exposure to outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and harsh work environments.
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, twist, use hands to handle, reach with hands and arms, push, pull, climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; talk and hear.
Use vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth, and color.
Work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions/circumstances such as with ladders, scaffolding, high‑lift equipment, wires, ducts, crawl spaces, attics, above ceilings, etc.
Lift, move, and hold up to approximately 50 lbs.
Must work a full‑time, flexible schedule with “on call” availability and be able to travel on short notice.
Must drive a motor vehicle (day and evenings) for extended periods.
Pay and Benefits Disclosure The pay range for this role is $25.10 – $41.83 an hour. Benefits include healthcare, 401(k) plan with company match, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, paid time off, and paid holidays. Employees accrue up to 120 hours in the first year, with accrual rates increasing thereafter.
