Position Overview The Department of Geography at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure‑track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Atmospheric Sciences. We seek a promising scholar with research and teaching expertise in meteorology and atmospheric science, and with the demonstrated potential to emerge as a leader in the field. Outstanding opportunities exist for collaboration with the Translational Data Analytics Institute, the Sustainability Institute, and the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center.
Performance Objectives
Develop and maintain a productive research program
Attract external funding
Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels
Demonstrate excellence in student mentorship
Support departmental operations through service on committees, project assignments, and administrative leadership roles
Education and Experience Requirements Required : Ph.D. in Geography, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or a closely related field. Expertise in at least one of the following areas: physical, polar, tropical, synoptic, mesoscale, or radar meteorology.
Desired : Strong background in meteorology, preference for degrees in Atmospheric Sciences or Meteorology, experience leveraging the Department’s mobile phased array X‑band radar, prior university teaching experience, and evidence of collaboration across disciplinary boundaries.
